The board's quite the looker: QWERTZ DEC style layout, so a lot of unusual and odd keys and some very nice, doubleshot keycaps.

I was a little sceptical at first when I read what switches it came with but oh boy, I was in for a surprise!

That's Mitsumi Miniature Mechanical (the white, tactile version). Usually not held in high regards by basically everyone in the community, but this one is brand new, so no use and also no dirt and dust. No binding, no scratching, just a very satisfying tactile bump before you bottom out. My secret Santa also lubed parts of the board which makes a noticable difference in both sound and feel. A bit of a shame you can't really use it because the switches will go bad with that
Can't wait to bring this one to the keyboard meetup in January
Second part of the gift was this beautiful Tai Hao MX-Set which looks absolutely stunning in my opinion. White on black lettering with that kind of seethrough plastic. I love it!

My secret Santa also added a candy bar and some very nice chocolate, but those are already gone (devoured by me is what I mean by that).

I got a Dell AT-101 in very nice condition, some cream alps and a nice stabilizer kit, along with some nice candy. The black alps are in great condition and I’m looking forward to using it and experimenting with a linear conversion and putting the creams into something. Thanks Santa!

Santa got me some assorted Alps and MX switches, along with a chonker of a keyboard with MX blacks and doubleshot DCS keycaps - this will be a fun project to try and get running! Thanks Santa!

Santa sent a note with his loot. He seems to know my keyboard collection well. Since I already have IBM, Alps, and Cherry keyboards, he sent me three keyboards with switches I've never tried, let alone own.

The first is an SMK Monterey switch keyboard which I'm actually using to type this post. The switches are pleasantly clicky and tactile, with a subtle - almost choral - ping.

The next is an NOS(!) Space Invaders QWERTZ keyboard. It is very handsome, and I see why these space invader switches are popular. This will be a fun one to put in rotation.
And now the one I'm most excited about:

This is a mostly NOS(!) Micro Switch SD 60%. I've always been curious about Micro Switch as I have a fetish for well-built American keyboards. I love the feel of these switches, and the key caps are a knockout. I need to do some research on how to get this up and running on a modern machine.
Santa was thoughtful enough to include a PS/2 to USB adapter, as well as an AT to PS/2 adapter so I could try these keyboards right away. He also sent some Wegmans Milk Chocolate Sponge Candy which I can now say I'm addicted to.

I got this beautiful IBM Model M with a detachable cable ! Very cool ! It feels even sturdier then my blue label / fixed cable Model M.
Its interesting how that Board sounds a fair bit deeper somehow... I love it , thank you very much santa Also a big thank you for the nice card and the choc chrisp. This was a wonderful tradition , thank you very much everyone ! <3

Hey, could you maybe elaborate on why switches go bad with that kind of lube ? I recently built a Board and lubed the switches (outemu silent white`s) with that exact kind of lube & would hate to see it go bad.

Funny, the Board I lubed with synco superlube has the exact style of keycaps , just the iso qwertz style.

Sorry, should've been a bit more clear on what I meant: Mitsumis are said to go bad with use very quickly, not lube

Motherfucker! I fucking missed it and I've been looking forward to this for the last couple of years
Compgeke told me they wouldn't be hosting one so I didn't think to check if anyone else would be doing it. Hopefully I catch it next year.
