Just got mine today, it's absolutely amazing, which is more then can be said for my cheap-ass tool kit that lied about the size of its hex driver :(.

The crazy price is mostly due to the laser service being much more expensive in the US. The same type of case for the Korean custom keyboards costs around $20 on average, including material. The costs to rent a laser cutter seem much less there.

And prices in the US are quite low compared to other places ;)
How does a anodising service for $150 sound? You can get the same one for $55 in the US.

If I had the CAD files... I could cut cases for very cheap.
I am not charged for material cost and I only pay $20/hour on the laser.

In the next round you need to add Kensington lock compatibility

hehe, there won't be next round. I won't be making any more. I am thinking about doing a different acrylic project. A Kensington lock probably will not work because it would be easy to rip it out of the acrylic case.

God I really wish I could buy one of these, sad to see you won't be making anymore :(

How comfortable are they with the screw heads sticking up above the top case? That seems like it would get in my way.

Not a problem at all. Try it yourself now, do any part of your hands or fingers touch any part of the keyboard other than the keys? If you do touch other than the keycaps, you are not typing in the correct position. Even if you do, nothing is sharp. In fact sometimes I run my fingers on the edges or rub the screw heads with my fingers when I think :D

LOL like little "thinking beads" or something. Nice. :)

They wouldn't be so bad if they delivered on weekends too.
I wonder if many European postal services deliver on weekends? I know they do in Japan [Edit: actually this might be just courier services like kuroneko]

At least here on Spain they don't deliver on weekend and everything is just paused during weekend.

That's why I like USPS, they work and deliver on Saturdays. So if your package travels over a weekend, it is only paused for a day. If it is shipped via FedEx and UPS, your package gets a 2-day rest. This may also be why USPS is losing money.

I tried to take a picture but it's so shiny it cannot be photographed. ;D

The sad thing is, I kind of want one of these: http://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2164 now. So I would need to build another Phantom or sell this one. :? Plus I don't even like using staggered keyboards anymore. I just want my Kinesis.

I ought to ask the Keyboard Oracle what to do.... :P
