Do you know what the MOQ is for a custom run of PLUM boards?

If it rquires new mould,cost would be very high, so MOQ is high too. If it is with current mould and only some component change, 300-500 pcs would be enough to start a production run.

Yes that's way too many perhaps... I was thinking a Black Plum 87 wired POM that you have in the shop but with 65g domes instead. I'm not sure if I could get 300.

Do you think you can offer a service for a fee $$$ where your store can swap the domes before it goes out?

bluetooth is cancer, the less complexity the better, infact, i see it as the only drawback of the plums.. wish it had the new low latency controllers from logitech!

I'm not much of a fan of Bluetooth either, except when it comes to mating a keyboard up with my iPad. I used to use wired boards, but iOS doesn't like them, and consistently induces reboots during what appears to be the push notification retrieval cycle.

But then I started using the Plum Nano 75 with my iPads over Bluetooth and I've learned to enjoy its benefits over wired keyboards. Sure, having to charge it every couple of weeks is a little bit of a pain, but it's way less frequent than charging the iPad itself. And so far it has been rock solid reliable, so I have no real complaints.

A great thing about Bluetooth is also that it allows you to switch between devices very quickly. At least if the keyboard has proper device switching built in. The Plum Nano 75's switching is servicable, but could be better and quicker. Multi device support isn't great on mechs I have used so far, if they even include it.

E.g. you type with your keyboard on your main computer. Then a text message comes in on your phone. You switch the keyboard to your phone and type out a lengthy reply using a real keyboard. To relax after so much stress, you pick up the keyboard and go to your couch. Then you use the keyboard with your media center to search for a nice movie to watch.

For a stationary desktop the benefits of bluetooth are mainly not having cables on your desk. If cables bother you depend on your sense of aesthetics and what else you're using the desk for. Not having cables makes it easy to store your keyboard in a drawer, when you use the desk for something else like soldering your next hand wired board.

The downsides besides having to charge are that it will happen that the keyboard is reliability. It isn't connected, pairing is lost, pairing takes too long, connects to the wrong device. A simple cable will always win with regards to reliability.

I'm not a fan of the Plum Nano 75's layout. The lack of arrow keys are just inconvenient to me. I'd like the Plum 84's layout without the function row better.

You're basically sleeping with your keyboard

I do like the device switching capability of the Nano 75. Since I don't switch between devices very often (in fact, I haven't done it yet except to test it), I don't care if it takes a second or two. Just the fact that I can switch between my iPads conveniently is good enough for me. The bigger inconvenience (of Bluetooth) is having to wake the keyboard up after 30 minutes (or whatever it is) and wait for it to reconnect before I can start typing.

As for arrows, well, my Nano 75 has arrows: FN+IJKL. And since I have the Caps Lock key programmed to be FN, arrowing around is really no different than typing uppercase IJKL, where I chord with my left pinky in almost exactly the same way (plus it involves less right hand movement away from the home position than with a TKL or full-size board).

Plum told me it will be ready by early July...
For dual mode non backlit nano75, plum will make some in white case, just like the current RGB appearance, without RGB..

it sounds really neat, and if it has bluetooth I am in.
Tough I would prefer to save some more $$ and get it as barebone, without keycaps (providing it is a 'normal' layout,)

I also have a Logitech K380 keyboard with bluetooth, which has a much better implementation of bluetooth.

• - no need to disconnect devices to pair new devices
  - fast wake from sleep
  - super long battery life (I guess the Plum has limitations due to the switches and the backlight)
  - fast switching between devices
  - fast connection
  - automatic switching of layout for command/win and alt when connecting to a Mac or iOS devices.

The layout and media keys are also really well done generally. The typing experience isn't that great of course.

I hope we will se mechanical keyboards with bluetooth reach the same functionality as this one.

The only thing I like about that is the color.

Did you found any keyboard with Bluetooth that's nice then?

I actally went thru 5 different bluetooth boards. I landed on apples wireless, only one that works reliably..
