When I would try to check my mail on yahoo.fr, there were a couple articles on Trump, so I'll consider it relevant. Interesting analysis.

Apparently he's not as "stupid" as many believe. Of course it's just a slightly modified version of the plain old sales pitch. Tell the voters what they want to hear and keep it simple.

He's a dangerous one. A salesman, a showman, independently financed, self entitled rich kid, boundlessly narcissistic, and a knee-jerk fascist… for the moment. I can easily see him winning the election this year. If he does, it'll be another rough ride for the world ahead. Because making foreign policy is the one thing a US President can actually do without making friends in Congress.

I'm convinced of that too by now. A salesman above all with an edge. I could see a lot of "frustrated" republicans voting Trump.

He's doing just the right things to win:

• He's running for one of the major parties (unlike his fellow billionaire Ross Perot who got millions to vote for him but never had a chance in a 2 party system).
• He's hogging all the media attention, stifling his competitors, and setting the whole agenda.
• He's balls to the wall rightwing, for now, to appeal to Republican primary voters.

That's a long way towards winning the Republican nomination. His weaknesses are that his fellow Republican politicians hate his guts — he doesn't play by their rules, and doesn't need their alliance or their money, which is infuriating! — and that he's still a big city conservative. He doesn't feel a natural fit to rural evangelical voters, who don't like his lifestyle or his morals. If he loses the nomination, it'll be because someone else beats him round the head with a bible.

As for the election in November: he has a chance. Hillary will stitch up the Democratic nomination in no time — sorry Bernie Sanders fans! — but she's much less of an ideal candidate than those of us in the liberal west imagine. Lots of Clinton baggage really turns off vital swing voters. Plenty of American women will gladly vote for sexist scumbag Trump over Hillary! No matter how much we furrow our brows in amazement abroad…

Right and Hillary has a lot of old nasty baggage, too much actually. Another fact on Turmp; he's got nothing to loose. G.W Bush might have been able to beat Trump but his brother is way too lame and tame.

Exactly. Billionaires have run for president before — Ross Perot got 8 million votes on his second shot in 1996, and won precisely zero states! — but striding right into the big boys clubhouse was a smart, as well as ballsy, move on Trump's part. Besides his big city rich kid image, he's a great fit for the Republicans. Everything he does to upset liberals only makes him better. He's George W dialled up to 11. He even does his own social media. Pretty advanced for a conservative!

But as for what he actually believes… who knows? I doubt he's a lamb in wolf's clothing. But there's no telling how much of his own horseshit he actually swallows. He knows how to lie and not apologise. Business and politics require it, and he's made that shamelessness part of his blowhard brand.

You can call Trump many things but you certainly can't call him stupid

As far as foreign policy goes, him wanting to get out of Syria and him not being Hillary are both very good things in my book.

I thought you might quite like him! The trouble is that anyone as ballsy as him is very likely to find kicking off a whole brand new war irresistible. Who knows who he'd take on? There's plenty more hornet's nests around the world for the US to poke its mighty wang deep inside, like W did in Iraq.

That's true. Who knows what he'll do? I just know that I find his statements on Syria and Russia (the area where I think American foreign policy is the worst at the moment) highly intelligible. I also know that Clinton is no less risky when it comes to the potential future of America's foreign policy. Just look at some of the wars she helped create in the past.

One thing I like about Trump: Dick Cheney hates his guts. Usually, that's a good sign of character. But in this case I'm not so sure!

Well, the constant media attention to Trump is annoying, and I don't want to discuss it anymore than I already am subjected to it. Trump is doing a great job of revealing a very negative, hateful vocal part of American society, and I find it slightly embarrassing that we still have tens of millions of people thinking this way.

Anyways, I enjoyed my trip to France and was very impressed with the infrastructure, the amount of bicyclists, food, history, the people I met, and, most of all, the roundabouts. I love roundabouts. Except the one around the Arc de Triomphe, that roundabout was unpleasantly clogged with tourists.

I understand what you mean vivalarevolución, but the trumpet guy does not represent the USA in any way, at least not to me. Glad you liked France, try Germany next time.
