I do like it tho, bit strange with the long 1! cap why not move all the numbers left and have a better backspace ?

I predicted you'd predict that. I'm pretty accurate about predicting predictions. There was a guaranteed 100% chance that I'd be 50% correct of about 25% of your predictions. (...10% of the time)

Is there any sort of rational or irrational explanation for why they are so sought after? This is not even in a great condition, so I would expect collectors would not be too keen on it.

I asked the seller for an picture of the sticker on the back and he sent me this: It think it has the same FCC id as type III of the [wiki]Tai-Hao APC semi-mechanical keyboard[/wiki], but it doesn't look like it. Does anybody have any idea what it is?

Weird, isn't it? Kind of like an IBM Model M2 in looks, with an open compartment above the number pad.

Also the keyboard is quite nice, it even has enough mods next to the space bar.

Sadly much too expensive just for the colored caps for me (more than ever with shipping to germany).

That's not beamspring (at least you can't see the flat keymount protruding from that pic), but is that the same manufacturer? It was as much the layout from that NCR keyboard as anything else that caught my eye... and then the keycaps are so close to a 3727 or 5251 as well. You also have super-typical IBM keys with ERASE EOF, DUP/PA1, FIELD MARK etc.

The Reset and Enter keys look concave rather than convex, which makes me unsure it's the same keyboard tech, though surely if it must interface with IBM (or clone!) equipment. It looks really good, I'd love to have that many status indicators to play with!

Hmm... I was thinking of Sig Plastic's SA family, but I've seen that GMK can do profile-less tall spherical keys (12mm tall M8 profile). Have these ever been used for a GB?
Or did you just mean as classic Cherry cylindricals?

I'd prefer the classsic Cherry Cylindricals but SA would be nice, too!

I'm wondering whether to start planning for this (purely as an interest check!). Are you thinking of the seven/eight keys to add this to any existing layout, or a whole set with the greys too?

I'd say just the seven/eight keys would be enough, maybe a second Y for the shift row for Qwertz users and a K cap instead of a N cap for CMY(K) or maybe both K and N.

According to him, its for use with an Advantest brand logic analyzer, circa '85. Obviously it's not a PC keyboard, but looks interesting nonetheless. Any body venture what kind of switches it might use? I haven't seen it yet, but the seller tells me, 'its very loud'.
