Can't see much for all that killer contrast, but as it's Phosphor's handiwork I expect it's top notch. Where are the LEDs?

Lazy as i am always shooting with Auto ISO, no tripod, flash, and only playing with the f-stop. Little bit gear faggotery: used a manual 100mm Zeiss macro lens (really great, a joy to use, rock solid, metal, like an old IBM keyboard), a DSLR (D800), and a Metz flash. The 100mm are most of the time too long for me (especially indoors).

@madhias Interesting. The illumination is important, so I guess you used bright daylight + flashlight, isn’t it?

Good job on the flash. Typically, people use flash like bad cooks use spices! It only works if you can hardly tell it's there.

How do you use your flash? The lighting in your shots looks completely natural, whereas when I use a flash (regardless of how far away/dim the flash is) it always looks like.. well.. flash lighting. I've looked for and tried plenty of methods, but nothing has worked for me so far.

No daylight. I needed to wait until everybody sleeps to have some time for serious keyboard business, so it was already dark! Just a table-light (which is always very yellow), and a flash like this (mounted on the cam), but rotated to the top, so that the light of the flash makes the room brigher:

I set my flash to -0.7 or -0.3 exposure compensation, and TTL mode. The DSLR is also set to -0.7. I try to always make underexposed shots, and change exposure later in Lightroom, so you can make the lightening as you like it to be:

Before image is as it is straight out of the cam.
I love Lightroom, and recommend to use software like Lightroom (or Aperture)! It's way better for editing images fast and easy than to do with Photoshop, GIMP or similar image retouching software. I use 3-4 settings for almost every shot:

I set the white balance to a object with grey colour, and use automatic exposure setting, and adjust it a little bit. Most of the time it's perfect as it is. If you're shooting in RAW (what is important to unleash the power of image retouching), the camera and lens profile and chromatic aberration settings are always great.

Madhias, I'm just trying out the 90degree flash method you suggested earlier.. Works a charm! Thanks for the tip! I think these photos I'm taking are a lot nicer than any of my others.

Nice pics, and 3 nice sets well worth flaunting.
Pro tip: when cross posting, don't bother mentioning it. People either saw them already, or they didn't, so what.
