I'm sure this was going to get posted sooner or later:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/112537014766
An auction probably was not what potential inquisitive buyers had in mind when they asked if they could buy the beamspring separately from the monitor.

Not sure, we got way more examples of the Beamspring version so far though. There should be a way to tell, here's mine although this picture may be useless in that sense. Plenty of pics of snuci's is in the wiki of course.

Those were definitely hall effect. The cap legends look a lot different than the beamspring ones do. both shifts and the "1" key should be stepped if they were beamspring. The shifts are shorter and not stepped if it is the data entry version which these were not. The two winners may be in for quite a surprise when they pay a ton plus shipping and find that they aren't beamsprings and that they won't be easily converted. I'd pay $200 for a hall effect version which is on my "to obtain list" but $450 is way too much IMHO

Vintage computer collectors would love those terminals at that price. It's also the small screen version of the 3277 terminal which is older than the normal screen size version. Maybe the Micro Switch keyboard was on the older (smaller) version and the IBM Beamspring keyboard was on the newer version? It's a theory with a minuscule sample but I was also offered two of these 3277 small screen terminals and they were Micro Switch as well. I didn't take them because they were in Europe at the time.

Yeah, definitely depends on what the buyer intended to do with it. A terminal can be had here without keyboard:

Wouldn't be surprised if that didn't get any bids, so may go lower if it doesn't sell.

You are right, this particular terminal probably won't get any bids but that's because the internal cards are missing and it's basically a shell. It's been on eBay before and didn't sell.

Why? Basic supply and demand in a free market place.
Bizarre? yes
Wasteful? yes
Wrong? no

One man's trash is another man's treasure. The only one of those I'd be interested in are the triple shot ones. And I'd probably pay a max of about $30 for one.

Aaaaaand sold! I have one but the prices are way lower than I expected when I was researching. They seem to go for less than a Model F keyboard... And they comes with a Model F keyboard.
Different connection but seems odd to me.

And $50 shipping. Nice.
I'll console myself with this: "No power cord and the unit has not been tested - see pictures for details and condition."
That's SUCH a cop-out. That's a butt-standard power cord that still comes on stuff today. So MAYBE it's not working and they have plausible deniability. Maybe they're too lazy to find a cord.
Will look for the follow up...

I bought it for the keyboard. If it turns out the PC
is actually in working order, it'll be a bonus. I'm fairly sure I have a copy of PC-DOS 3.3 around here
somewhere...
I'll look up Soarer's converters and teensies for this keeb tomorrow. Now I need to get some sleep (while my wallet spends the night crying).
