FYI
Sold for 1200GBP (12000CNY) on 03.05.2013
the pics are the same, who will you trust?

They do fetch pretty insane prices...I'd never heard of one getting 1200GBP, but here's one that was pretty close @ 1147GBP:

The one you landed for 10 Euros I can understand. Only 5 years ago I don't think there was near as much hype for these keyboards. The 2012 one though...you lucky bastard.

I found 4 like that on marktplaats. They were all glad to be selling their old crap. Last one was 2012 though. Nowadays I wouldn't stand a chance. Tinnie is covering the market places 24/7.

Many thanks, Muirium, and everyone else who offered gentlemanly encouragement and praise (even if tinged with a bit of green) for my being able to win today's eBay auction for a pair of IBM 3278 beam spring keyboards. I will do my best to honor the reputation of these boards by restoring them to aesthetic functionality. I only hope I can do as well as quantalume in this regard. I have emailed Xwhatsit to request two of his controllers whenever he can get around to making another batch. When I get into the restoration and conversion, I will post a pictorial documentary.

I'm very very tempted by that... I wish I could justify spending €110 on a keycap set. ._.

I've been considering it for a while now... I really want it too, but I probably won't be able to justify it.

Didn't you sign the non-justification agreement when you joined DT? ;)

Haw haw, very funny. :D At that point, if I'd known I wanted to spend €110 on a set of keycaps I would have laughed!

It's ridiculous... Last week I was like "why do I have to keep buying keyboard stuff???"
This week I just keep telling myself it's ok because every keyboard item I ever bought was under 100€. Only 2 were over 50€. Still, it's a lot of stuff. I could easily calculate the total I have spent on keyboards but who would want that :D

I´m past that point, there is little that would tempt me anymore, all of the really nice stuff is too expensive or allmost never available or both. On the other hand...if the price is right, I usually still buy it even though I should not. But not as often as I used to. :D

Apart from all these tasty damn caps group buys, and the occasional SSK and Kishsaver, oh and the custom keyboard projects naturally, I spend little indeed on keyboards. Wait a minute…

I've tried to stay focussed on trying switches rather than going deep on some other completist quest (no Cherry keyboards, yet!) but my loopholes are beginning to look like the centre of what I'm doing now. Humpf!

Muirium mind sharing where I could get one of those OCCASIONALLY...at a realistic price :x

I'm searching for another SSK, and already looking around, bidding a little bit. Damn me that i did not buy 7bit's offer a view months ago.

Someone get that industrial SSK for $1225! The other industrial SSK the same seller had bought a DT and GH member with a fable for old and special Model Ms.

If I was looking for another SSK, my search would begin and likely end with Phosphorglow's superb refurbs:

I saw them, they were selling really fast! I was not 100% sure regarding shipping, etc. One was even sold again here at DT a view days/weeks before (because of being too loud).

SSKs have become overpriced in most of the markets. The SSK does have a great layout, but I have found that the XT provides a much better typing experience. Moreover, although prices for XTs have been going up, it is still possible to find them for under $100. The disadvantages of XTs include the layout (although some people like it) and the fact that you would need to purchase a Hagstsrom converter or build one using a Teensy (or equivalent) and Soarer's converter. Overall, I find that the advantages of an XT outweigh the disadvantages.
