Does anyone know what switches these have?
Rubber domes.
Not only rubber domes but those HP keyboards speak their own proprietary HP protocol. I have one here, the keycaps are nice but that's it.
Spoiler:

Darn, I love their appearance and the layout looks great, but if the switches are just domes…

Yes, one side is SDL, I forgot what the other end is.

And those semi-nice keycaps do not fit anything else...

Anybody else see that keyboard with blue alps that got listed on eBay yesterday? I wanna say it was an Acer, but I can't remember. Was listed some time in the evening/late afternoon EST time but I can't seem to find it anymore :(

Monterey blues have a completely different look - the shape isn't the same, and the color is a light/faded blue. Unless I'm missing something, that keyboard almost certainly has blue alps.

Yeah I think the caps are actually as appealing as the blues are, to be honest.

By the way everyone, a Northgate tech told me in an e-mail last week that ALPS blue are exactly the same as white, so you should stop bidding and let someone else pay way too much for those.

*places bid*

Yes and I'm curious as to why, is he just trying to sell more of his own boards with whites, or does he actually believe that?

Isn't that the same one that got listed separate from that computer? =o Still guessing it's got yellow Alps - if anyone found out please let me know if I'm right or not!

I had a message exchange with this seller before he took down the listing. It was difficult to get information from him, but in a series of questions and answers, he confirmed that the sliders were yellow and that the underside of the keycap was white and black stripes -- so, it looks like yellow Alps with doubleshots.

He also said that he broke the cap and that he was going to glue things back together before relisting. I urged him NOT to glue anything because buyers would want to know exactly what was damaged in order to know what needed to be repaired and to do proper repairs.

Looks like he is not divulging the mishap in the relisting.

My theory is that once you factor in wear, the "range" of Blue and White switches overlap so much that there isn't a definable difference. It would be a fun thing to test: set up a test rig with, say, 100 mixed switches under identical caps, and see if people can reliably differentiate Blue and White. Maybe mix some later bamboo-white, clone-white, and Matias switches in for extra fun.

Maybe new units in lab settings perform in a recongzable way, but once you're looking at older units with dried-out lubrication and wear, all bets are off.

I'd love it if this was set up as a stand at keyboard meetups; correctly identify all 51 SKCM Blues in a keyboard of 102 SKCM Whites to win a prize! ... and then record all the guesses, for science!

My guess is, if the whites are clean Pines then it'll be too close to call.

As long as the board acoustics don't influence the sound too badly, you should be able to separate them pretty reliably by sound alone.
