For any of you that might have that Portable model F, here's a somewhat interesting auction - an original IBM box for it at $15 BIN. It's a lot more reasonable than some of the crazy overpriced auctions I've seen for IBM boxes before.

My Gawd, there is a craze in collecting old IBM Keyboard boxes?

As you get older you never cease to see what is popular out there in Flebay Land  .

Hardly a craze, but it does make a vintage keyboard more desirable. Too bad that box looks so hideous.

It's also for the portable model, not the standard XT one. Still, I really like having the original box for my keyboards, even if they take up way more space than the generic ones I pick up at the recycling centre.

For some reason, all of the XT boxes I've seen look really bad. I figure either the inks used weren't made to last, or they were all stored in locations that exposed them to excessive heat or humidity.

The design of the boxes was very minimalistic to begin with, I don't think it helps. The AT box is the same.

Yes XT the box is quite "flimsy" considering that the keyboard itself is built like a tank, I bought mine here in the original box which is holding up but would not pass any stress test or shipping at this point...

That one actually looks really good. They tend to be dented and the ink much more faded. Nice one!

speaking of the F XT:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-IBM-5-P ... Swo4pYa~FH

$75 OBO with free shipping - looks in pretty good shape as well.

Yeah, the box definitely didn't look great, and someone tore the original packing tape right through the image of the keyboard : / The main reason I posted it was because it's for the portable F XT, which I believe isn't very common.

I hope this will resurface in pictures here. Took me a lot of restraint not to jump on it.
I'm not sure I'm clear on this one - are you commenting that it's a Hall Effect keyboard? Or was it used in a particularly special application? The keyboard does look nice though, that's for sure.
I just wanted to say that this is a nice keyboard and I'm interested whether a DT member bought it.

wrt. to this being Hall Effect, here's some evidence (Picture from XMIT):

Here's an XT for $20.00 BIN!! I would buy this if I didn't have two XTs already. Owner says one of the letter keys doesn't work, though.

$45 shipped to me. Definitely a good price for those in the market for an XT, or even parting it out for the switches and alpha keys.

Very curious as to what this is. Google turns up nothing. It's from 12/1994

Something tells me that's a rubber dome.

Interesting stabilizer-like shining under the lower-right corner keycaps. The Return key arrow reminds me of the logo of some Topre keyboards. But, I have no idea what this is.

You guys reckon it's worth getting it? For keyboard science? Shipping isn't that bad for me, I'm in Australia.

It's your money! Want somebody else to blame after? :D Probably not every Japan keyboard is Topre :)

BTW, compare with this (ofc, there are differences: wiki/Topre_JDL )

If it's a regular rubberdome the keyboard science won't be so exciting! The keycaps may be nice I can't judge from the pictures, save your $$$ if you ask me, there must be better finds on the japanese yahoo auctions!

Unless I can get it for that 1,000 yen, I think I'll heed that advice. :) One last thing - do we have any info on alps.tw type OC5? http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/jRoAAOSw5 ... -l1600.jpg

Fujitsu made leaf-spring keyboards with that, or at least a very similar layout and case design.
See http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~silencium/k ... html#50100 and http://sandy55.fc2web.com/keyboard/fmv_kb-211.html

However, the keyboard in this auction looks like it has a curved backplane, which tells me that it is likely a indicate rubber dome.

An auction for an Apple M0110 starting at $50, ends in 8 days. Looks great and comes with box, cable, styrofoam etc.

I would bid if I was in the US, but I think it'll rise in price and the import taxes will probably kill it for me. Hope one of you guys gets it.

Hmm, no idea. Beardsmore should know for sure.

Same situation here, I found this in Germany but I suspect it's a rubberdome also. The seller has no idea what I'm even talking about. If anyone of you can confirm this is not a rubberdome from these pics I'll buy it since the price is good and according tot the seller it's unused.

I dont know anything about the AT&T board, but it looks really nice..

The AT&T is almost certainly dome. You can see plastic between the keycaps.
