If it's from 1972, do you think the keyboard would be a Micro Switch, perhaps?
She's a beauty and is available here:

I'm starting to think I was born with enough kidneys to sell.

Wow, what a beast. Very 1970's with that woodgrain.

Could be, the keycaps look matt but that doesn't say anything. The font looks more Micro Switch than keytronic to me but I'm not 100% sure.

As a general rule I assume stuff like that is Hi-Tek Vintage Linear or a clone until it's proven otherwise.

OK, that's a pretty interesting approach. Was Hi-Tek dominating the market for machines like that or do you have some other reason to assume that? I really can't tell from that picture. 1972 is pretty old too, not too many manufacturers around yet IMO.

In my subjective, anecdotal experience (I haven't done a statistical analysis or anything) a lot of terminals from before ~1983 have Hi-Tek waffle iron switches.
The font also looks Hi-Tek ish.

Ahh indeed, that font looks very close. Thanks.
I have one of those bare Hi-TEK waffle boards lying in my basement somewhere, the switch felt lousy though.

No problem.

I realize that some of the conclusions I draw seem nutty.
Edit: oh goodness, yes. They're awful. Nuking them with teflon dry lube helps, but only a little.

My pleasure, Soviet keyboards are something I see a lot of, just a shame that this isn't one of the nicer ones.

Really surprised there aren't any stamped metal switches from the Soviet Union

To me it looks just as real as my NCR H0150-STD1-10-17:

Due to the xenophobic nature here in the West towards anything Soviet related, most of their gear got destroyed.
Actually more scared now for the future with what is happening in the Western Sphere, the same hatred and fear returning again like in the mid 1930's.

photekq's post precisely says it
is a real NCR and not a fake:
G81-
3007 XXX, doubleshots, lighter grey casing as opposed to
G81-
3077 XXX, doubleshots, darker grey casing.
Here again the link to the eBay listing:

LOL yeah good point. Maybe shooting down a passenger air plane or invading an neigboring country isn't such a bad thing down under, but the the western sphere seems to be taking things like that very personally.

Sorry guys could you please explain to me what is so special about a G81-3077? It is not even featuring MX switches, it is for the keycaps or for the general look? Thanks

Pace soldering station cheapish in the UK:

Tips look like they are in a decent shape, and that makes it even more of a bargain as they are usually $10-$15 per (and last a long time with good care).

Hahaha, thank you, my good sir! Yeah, it was kind of built as a joke (albeit with so many rare parts

), but it's become a favorite.

Do you have more details? I guess some switches are MX? Or did you mod some caps? I love it though.

I've never seen Cherry profile with Alps stem! I assume this requires a lot of donor stems and lots of time and patience for modding the stems?
