Hah it took me a month to sell eight Peerless boards at $5 ea... Can only imagine how long it'll take to sell at $60.

Looks like a phone pad, doesn't it? Computer pads normally have the 1 in the lower left corner, while phones have them in the upper left corner. Also, the * and # keys.
No idea what switches these could be. Mech in any case, so what can go wrong?

Edit: no idea if the deal I'm trying to make will go through, even partially.
I just remembered about this, did your deal go through, ohaimark? I'd be pretty interested in hearing about what you were trying to get..

Good on you for remembering. I'm just reaching the point of shipping with the seller -- he is a piece of work. He's not mean, just idiotic.
I'll give you another teaser.

It's made by IBM, it has Alps switches, and I am only aware of 5 units in existence. Seriously -- the entire internet has two pictures and a couple of research papers on the model I'm picking up.

That's a rubberdome with a trackpoint that's worth little. Not rare either IMO. I'd spend about 3-5 Euros on that max.

That's all I needed to know, thanks

Looks like something IBM just bought in order to keep the costs down...

It's pretty much an early Thinkpad keyboard in its own case,
Comparable for example to the Thinkpad 770:

Thinkpad keyboards were pretty good back then in comparison to other laptop keyboards. But it's rubberdome of course.

Japan?

Nope.
prototype?
Nope, but a part of a very limited production run it appears.
IBM JX board? The space-saving one?
Definitely not. I will confirm that it's not a Japanese model.
IBM Multistation 5500 series keyboard?
Nah.
Is this DT quiz time?
I guess so. This is a lot of fun for me!

Make another thread. If it's vintage computer related, I am usually pretty good at figuring out what it is.

Is that now model m or f?

My doubt is because scooped alt keys tell me model f... right?

This is model M, F's have black metal backs.

It is, however, a rarer Model M variant with Model F style stepped caps and feet.

Some American go get it! That's less than a quarter the price you ever see them here.

Thanks. Couldn't leave that one alone. I could use it to pair up with a Mac 512k too.
