I'll be getting black. It should look good either with black blanks or beige with legends, so I can switch between sets as desired.

I was thinking of black as well, although I'm afraid of scuffs showing more easily than on off-white or gray.

The site says the 22nd of February for the early bird run.

Yes early bird orders will close at the end of February per the web site - Feb. 29th (a week's delay from my original 2/22 plan).

Update on the small case: I posted this reply to one of the questions someone posted on modelfkeyboards.com's Q&A page.
The small case is happening, but not for about a month at least. I have not yet started the prototyping process or determined whether there is enough interest to keep the pricing the same for the smaller case. I will let everyone know on pricing in a few weeks once I get a quote from the factory. The dimensions would be about 12.5 inches wide by 6-7 inches by about an inch tall. These are very approximate estimates. You'd be saving about 1.5 to 2 inches in width and about 1 inch in length. The height would be about the same.

Can't wait for the end of Feb

.
Been waiting for this keyboard for such a long time, just can't believe it's finally happening.

I have put together a video with a typing test and a comparison of different Model F and M keyboards. Please keep in mind that these are prototypes adjusted with hand tools because some measurements were off - they will not sound like the finalized production units.
Every Model F keyboard and Model M keyboard in my collection sounds noticeably different - the goal of this project was not to exactly reproduce the sound of any one Model F keyboard, but I feel that these new Model F keyboards are truly in line with and deserve the moniker of a Model F keyboard as I posted earlier.
Everyone will have until the end of February to place an early bird order. For being an early bird tooling volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible but it's fine if you want to wait until early February to place your order.
This is an early preview of the video - orders are still not yet open but will be very soon!

Man, as if the deal couldn't be any more sealed. That video has me so sold.
They do all sound different. That 107 key sparks visions of thousands of springs raining down on my roof.
The new 62 and 77 seemed the most crisp, while the SSK industrial gave the most thock to my ears.

Regarding the smaller case, what are the chances of it being available to be shipped with an early bird order? Will there be different colour options? Which parts of the inner assembly would be incompatible with it, just the backplate?
I can't see the backplate by itself available in your store at all.
Those large circular bumpers that are on your keyboards in the video, are those the ones that come included with the keyboard, in addition to the 4 of our choice?

I'm happy to see how easily they come apart. Making the cable removable is going to be easier than I expected.

Ludovician - not sure about the chances of the smaller case shipping on time. You'd only need to buy a new bottom inner assembly ($20) if you wanted to convert your keyboard to the smaller case. Everything else is interchangeable. And yes those are the cork-rubber bumpers that every keyboard will have, like the original XT keyboards. All bumpers will come unattached so that you can choose what you want and where you want to place them.
gnarlsagan - yep those are in line with my thinking. All of those keyboards were cleaned piece by piece by me and then used only sparingly, for testing, or not at all after then, so they are all not typical examples of how those keyboards sound unrestored.

Where's Elrick? The site's been live for an hour and he hasn't gloated about placing his order yet.

Expected the shipping to be around that, but it still hurts.

Just need to decide if 62 or 77 and "NO!" can't do the "why not both" crap.

Ouch, that shipping price. I expected that.
Will have to wait until I get paid before I place my order, ha.

Yes I am sorry about the International shipping charges. USPS just put through a large price increase starting this month on international packages. They are still half the cost of FedEx and UPS. I asked a few times earlier in this thread if anyone was willing to proxy ship for Europe/Asia/Australia but there were no takers. For those who don't know, proxy shipping means a volunteer would accept many orders in their region (Europe/Asia/Australia) in one combined box (that is, everyone who agreed to be part of the proxy shipment) and then mail out keyboard boxes individually within their country to save on shipping costs. Due to the recent USPS shipping cost increases feel free to post if you want to arrange proxy shipping with someone who lives in your region. It seems like there was not much savings according to those who looked into it before the price increases but that may have changed now.

Yeah, shipping could be a bit less expensive. My configuration seems to be 432 USD shipped, but I will still take it.
If there's any other Finns placing orders, I'm quite sure we can work something out regarding the shipping. Shipping from Finland to other European countries doesn't make much sense, as we have relatively high domestic and abroad shipping costs, even inside Europe.

Good god. I'm in for four boards. What the hell am I doing? F62 and F77 each in industrial grey and beige. This may be my only chance to get these boards and at the very least they'll last a lifetime.
At least you people understand me.

Order placed! One keyboard. Only
Shipping is crazy, but that was expected. I've paid significantly more for shipping stuff from the us in the past though

Order placed. As others have said, shipping was a sting (to Europe) but still came in around the £300 mark all in so its not too bad

Before I commit to this insanity I would like to know what we would have to add to the cart/comment field to get the other F77 nav block variant keys included in our order.
Because I'd really like to be able to change my mind later between "0-9 + cursor" and "Print/ScrLck/... etc + cursor".
So, eleven extra keys? Specify every single one? Is it a set price or printed single key price?
//e I wouldn't even mind getting F1 through F12 for optional use with that key block. I consider this my only opportunity to get myself and maybe other users years down the line happy.
//e2 also, looking at this after shipping and taxes makes my head spin

Anyone in Hong Kong (or China) want to split shipping?
Holy cow... this is going to be expensive but also once in a lifetime.

Darn. I'm not in HK ATM...are you looking to pitch in the early birds or the main buy?

Scottex-yes you can use your Spanish keys. Yes you can put ISO for the layout. That means you can use your vertical enter key. I also suggest buying 3 horizontal and 1 vertical stabilizer insert.
Andrewjoy that is an odd paypal error. Feel free to ask paypal why they do not like your address format, or just put free local pickup shipping and put 70 units of $1 customizations to pay for the shipping charges and I will do a manual shipping label.
Kekstee all Unicomp key sets are full 101 or 104 key sets and I will include these keys in everyone's order. So you do not need to pay for extra keys that Unicomp includes with their regular set. I can have the factory put any keys on by default and then everyone will have the other keys shipped uninstalled for future usage.

The error is from the website not from paypal
