That's getting more than a little annoying. Some of us don't want to entice buyers to break ebay TOS and we're getting screwed by people totally fine with it.

Again, the numbers say it all. The way this thread is going with 326479 views none of these developments like the crazy blue Alps price jump suprise me. But were not alone out here...GH...reddit...etc.

come on guys and girls, stop whining. blue alps are rare, and since custom alps boards are available, more people want them. and i think posting them here is not the cause fore the price jump. people willing to pay crazy amounts are responsible for that!

Did you get that one? They are pretty neat not so much in the keyboard sense, but in their function as morse code terminals.

Blue Alps aren't really that rare though! Not with the amounts of them popping up lately!

I wonder if someone is just gonna tear up the DC-3014 from that listing and use the AT101's caps. Though those will be doubleshots and not PBT.

I did find what it is used for (I am not a ham, though), but not what kind of switches it has.

Okay, so I'm not trying to sound crass, but there is a distinctive difference between Alps-made dyesubbed PBT, Alps-made Doubleshot, and the ABS caps that are typically found on Acers.

The biggest difference between both the Acers and the Dell PBT is the asterisk and minus legend, actually no, the entire numberpad is a huge giveaway among other small nuances:

The doubleshot ABS version of the AT101 seems to be found only on the Japanese-made AT101s as far as I have seen.



See how the legends are the same? You can see this sizing and positioning on every ANSI doubleshot board with Alps Electric caps, including the Acer KB101AS (a variant of the KB101A), etc.

This is a rotated version of one of the only decently clear shots of the AT101:



Due to the indicators mentioned above, this is most certainly doubleshot ABS, not PBT.

Yes, in general, there are subtle clues to a key cap's source such as size, color, and style of legends.

I bought a [dad joke] bunch of stuff [/dad joke] from that seller separately from eBay. He's pretty hung up on getting premium prices for his keyboards. I only managed to purchase a lot because I found a price list that he "grandfathered" me into for motivating him to sort his KBs.

Indeed, and they can be really fun and interesting to sort out! I didn't even see the distinction between Alps DS caps and Alps PBT caps until I stumbled upon that Japanese AT101 and then realized that there's a trend for those caps on every ANSI board I've seen with Alps Electric doubleshots.

Yeah, Alps Electric seems to have made the caps on the AT101 boards (SGI, Dell, HP, and a few more, I think), the Leading Edge boards, and a whole bunch more.

I'm still not sure if the non-DS caps on the Acer ANSI boards are Alps-made or not, as the back sides of them do not have the same mold marks that Alps Electric caps have.

You could control them via a foot pedal or something like that, too. That's what the three inputs on the back are for.

There is no way in a normal setting that could get like that , the XT case is a tank. Me thinks a pallet in a recycling centre may have dropped on the poor thing.

Alps bigfoot?

I have an AT101W with I think dye sublimated caps. I also think they're thin abs so they shine and are slightly discolored. Otherwise they're quite nice
