Hi guys, who is interested in durable new foam sheets for their Model F keyboards? I am currently capable of making sheets for the AT and XT (I use the barrel frames as templates - would like to figure out how to make my own templates for every Model F so that I don't need to do this). I mark and cut the holes by hand and also test to ensure every hole lines up.
I have both 2mm and 3mm polyethylene foam, which should never rot and should give the keyboards a more solid feel than the original material. I recommend 3mm for XTs, as it provides the most solid feel. The pressure will slightly force the barrel frame apart, but it will feel and sound amazing with that extra padding. I recommend 2mm for ATs, as it's less likely to cause issues with the wire stabilisers. You do of course, have the option to choose whatever you want, if you think it will work.
How does £35 shipped sound for made-to-order foam sheets? I can post internationally if you wish, but I'm not sure how expensive that would be.
I can install the foam for you if you're willing to send your module to me.

Seems a bit pricey, since Ellipse is selling them for 35$.

Do you do F122s? If so, I'd be interested. I'm not brave or skilled enough to replace my foam

I need the barrel frame to be able to do it, that's until I find a way to make a robust template that I can keep using. If you are willing to send the barrel frame, I'd be happy to cut the mat for you. Or, if you send the entire assembly, I can fit the foam for you. It's a lot to ask, I know!zippolupan wrote: 05 Jul 2021, 23:01 Do you do F122s? If so, I'd be interested. I'm not brave or skilled enough to replace my foam![]()

I made a 2mm sheet for an XT and it was a success. I think 3mm would be a bit better, but it's pretty good after adding curvature to the barrel frame.

Thank you so much! I guarantee they won't be as janky as that AT foam - that spacebar part was a bit rushed.Palatino wrote: 05 Jul 2021, 23:33 This is sterling work, and I will engage your services, Wazrach, when my XT foam gives up the ghost!

I'm confused on how that would work. How would anything affect the foam when it is sealed away, surrounded in plastic?Sheepless wrote: 06 Jul 2021, 00:30 I've read that polyethylene foam can cause static electricity problems with these keyboards: any thoughts on that?

Beats me, but it's mentioned (inconclusively) in this workshop thread:Weezer wrote: 06 Jul 2021, 00:47I'm confused on how that would work.
