Espirit PICTerm CBG keyboard

One of the other boards sezual_hotdog sent me was this Espirit PICTerm CBG board. I don't know anything about the keyboard or the machine it was meant for (yet). Hoping to learn a little bit about it as I go. The only modification I've done so far is remove the voltage regulator so that it works off 5V.

The keyboard appears to send 8 bit scan codes at about 1200 baud to the computer. Similar to other terminal keyboards, it doesn't send break codes and is typematic. The scan codes are not the ascii codes of the keys but maybe they correspond to the switch position or something (?) When a key is held, the board sends the code followed by 128. Then it repeatedly sends the code followed by 144 for as long as you hold the key.
