Omron F300-K initial shots

I just received my Omron F300-K. It definitely uses Fujitsu leaf springs. I don't have my keycap puller at the moment, so you'll have to trust me until I do a teardown later.

The keycaps appear to be dyesubbed, but based on a different 'board I received a few weeks back this particular type of Fujitsu cap can also use a pad print method that decays slightly when cleaned with denture tablets. Thankfully mine is legitimately NIB, so no cleaning will be necessary.

I grabbed the package on my way out the door this morning and opened it before a university course. The keycap puller is at home.

Ahh I see metamisunderstanding then. I would never believe you would not have a keycap puller.

So Omron actually used quality switches instead of their own funk then? Interesting.

Say, is this AT/XT compatible? Because a Fujitsu leaf spring board that's actually USABLE would be fantastic, especially in a condition like this!

3rd gen, I'm assuming?

It is definitely 3rd Gen, but unfortunately it isn't usable in its current state -- modular plugs suck. I wouldn't be surprised if it runs on the AT/XT protocol, though. I'll try to trace the cabling later and use that as an excuse to pop it open. If you look at the 'board above it in the third shot, the "Tandy 3000 Personal Computer Keyboard" (it has no model number, only a long-ass name), you'll notice a DIN connector. That 'board runs on the XT protocol and is usable with a Soarer's.

Note that it came with the original manual. It basically says: "plug it in you uneducated buffoon."

Here it is next to a cousin.

. My Sanyo board comes with a DIN plug but it runs some cryptic protocol that my Soarer's can't make heads or tails of Oo .

Does your Soarer's have a reset line and pull up resistors? If not, that could be why it isn't working.

No, it's one of Orihalcon's. Does that make it work, then? =o

I haven't tested my Tandy with an Orihalcon's, but those mods make Soarer's compatible with (and this is an anecdotal statistic) about 66.66% of keyboards that otherwise wouldn't work.

Very nice indeed. 3rd gen leafspring are some of the smoothest switches out there. And yours appear to be new (dead stock). Quite a find. I know you'll add it to the wiki.
