Testing Model M After Bolt Mod

I have a nice model M with the round terminal plug that I have restored. It is the version without the LED Caps/num lock. I did a screw/bolt mod and reassembled. I want to test that I got everything connected right.

I have a few model M's including a PS/2 model M that does have the LED Caps/Num lock. Can I use the controller card from that keyboard to test the terminal model M?

Ok so I can confirm that changing the boards between the two model M keyboards work.

I've had the same issue myself. Board worked perfectly before bolt mod, tried after, and failed. Lock lights flashed, but that's it. I'll have to get me a controller it seems.

Keep in mind i have never done a bolt mod so my experience is limited.

However.

As far as i am aware the tension of the bolts is important , if they are too loose or too tight the keypress will not register. If i was going to do it i would tighten them until i feel its going to be too tight and then back it off say 1/4 of a turn and keep testing until it works, if not keep adjusting.

Another important thing is the alignment of the plastic sheets, also make sure the contacts at the end of the ribbon flex are clean, you can do this with a pencil rubber or better yet rubbing alcohol. Under no circumstances you anything acetone based !!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I think bolt tension might be the issue then, as they were all hand tightened since I didn't have a proper screwdriver to tighten them. Pretty sure the sheets are aligned fine. I'll see what happens.
