[help] Dead Rapoo KX Revival Project

Hi Guys, first time poster so I hope I posted it in the right sub-forum.

So my Rapoo KX's hardware failed, LEDs not working, inputs are not being read properly and charging the thing doesn't work...basically it's dead.

I am trying to revive it by placing a Teensy 2.0 controller on it.

These are what I currently have in terms of parts:
- 1N4148 Diodes
- Teensy 2.0
- 8ft USB cable
- Dead Rapoo KX
- Several extra Gateron Switches
- 5v LED Strip Light
- Extra colour-coded wires

I have a few question that needs answers in order for me to proceed in this project:

1.) Is it advisable to strip the PCB bare of all contacts to start clean? (so that there won't be any signal issues)

2.) The ESC and all the F-keys are kaput, so I was planning to put them all on the Fn-key+(Num Row), is it feasible?

I have already broken down and removed all of the components that I don't need like the capacitive strip of keys and it's corresponding LED board, battery, vibrator and all other connections to the PCB.

The only thing remaining from the original keyboard is the PCB, switches, housing and keys and LEDs.

Any other help/suggestions/recommendations is highly appreciated.

Well since no one advised for or against my question, I proceeded to remove everything that was soldered, took my cut-off disc and (hopefully) scarred the PCB.



So far all the rows have been soldered...



Front comparison with a Buffalo BSKBB22 bluetooth keyboard from Japan.



Current layout...anyone have input on it?

Any good/bad thoughts and questions regarding the project?
