So,a couple of weeks ago, I got myself an NMB Hi-Tek keyboard from ebay.
Linear space invaders, first experience with them, they feel a bit scratchy and not responding very well to off-centre presses. Nice build quality, the caps are really nice dye-subs and it feels sturdy enough.
Writing with it right now, can't say I'm impressed...
Funnily enough, they used purple LED ready switches on the lock keys, despite having dedicated lock lights. The purple switches feel smoother.
Would a thorough cleaning and slight lubing make them smoother?
Onto the photos:

Sweet fined.

Linear space invaders, i found them quite smooth and the stabilised keys work well at least this type do. Possibly your switches need a good cleaning and some lube ?

I love the sound they make too , its very nice.

EDIT. I will pull some of my space invaders and try some PTFE dry lube on them , i will let you know how they work out.

Two eyed linears, very nice. :o And also magenta LED switches like on my Commodore, awesome. Congrats!

Oh no problem I'll gladly take it. :evilgeek:

I wish I could tell you, I really don't know. It's worth a try.

Those pictures are creepy! I particularly like the one with the stabs.

What camera/lens did you use?

D7200 with 60mm macro lens. I recall chzel mentioning this elsewhere, and:

Code: Select all

$ exiftool D72_1844.jpg | grep Model | head -n 2
Camera Model Name : NIKON D7200
Lens Model : 60.0 mm f/2.8
Do mind your EXIF data.

   Creepy good or creepy bad?
As XMIT correctly pulled from the Exif it's a Nikon D7200 with a Micro Nikkor 60mm f2.8D except the first which is with the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8

BTW XMIT it turns out it's a sick lens! I love it, sharp as hell! But I'm incredibly pissed with the idiot monkeys at the Customs. They managed to scratch the body...They used a f***ing box cutter to cut open the bubble wrap. IT WAS MARKED AS FRAGILE FFS...

Wow,first to see this model have the (Linear)Magenta with LED! And very rare to see three Magenta on one keyboard.
I glad you took the nice quality photo with date code inside the keyboard.
This switch pressed suck when it got dirty. You should deeply clean them and than feel them on pressing.

The Micro Nikkor 60mm f2.8D is one of my favorites. So long as you don't need 1:1 reproduction it's great. Otherwise you need to get so close that you can't even mount a ring light. Especially for keyboard work I love it because it has almost no barrel or pincushion distortion out of the box! I wish I could say that about my 50mm f/1.4 lens.

When I have some time I'll do more shooting with my Tamron 90mm lens to compare. It might be a hair less sharp.
