So you didn't notice that my missing-a-column design already shaved this 0.5 off?7bit wrote:It just strikes me, that the main-keyfield of a standard keyboard could be 14.5 units wide instead of 15 units if it weren't for those ISO fetishists ....

Ah, the site is being relocated. The Ripster subforum is a INTERNATIONAL subforum.

Um, having used ISO boards for years and moving to ANSI, I found ANSI much more ergonomic and comfortable. The short left shift of ISO keyboards is bad, and the large enter is pointless, if anything it makes it harder to stabilize and harder to push because of extra stabilizer (or extra switch in some cases). Even though it is larger, a further problem with the ISO enter key is that it is harder to reach because of the extra key inserted to the right of the quote key. So to reach the Enter and the left Shift, your hand moves further away from the home position with ISO boards than it does with ANSI boards.Half-Saint wrote:ANSI sucks, end of story

First of all, I was just trolling
Now seriously, I prefer short left Shift (that you guys criticize) on the account of having one extra key next to it (<>). I also don't see what's everyone's problem with the ISO Enter key. So you have to move your hand 1cm further? Big deal.
The only positive side of ANSI for me is the horizontal Enter since it allows me to reach Ž (\ |) without twisting my hand around. Since I have to type in slovene lots, this is handy.
