Pretty good.

The Daily Clack?
Thock News?
Chairman of the Keyboard?

I'm running out of ideas…

@Matt3o I wouldn’t brood over technical details. Just start writing blog articles. Later on, if the blog is popular, there are plenty of people who are willing to help optimize it technically. It just needs to be good in respect of content. For example, personally I would like to read articles which inform me about oportunities (GBs, newly released keyboards, accessories) I may have missed here and there. I don’t want to scan all the posts on geekhack, deskthority and reddit every day.

The Home Row?
Tech Mech Spectator?
Caps & Switches?
Le Dernier Click?

(thekeypusher.com is pretty good indeed.)

The Home Row is a nice one. It doesn't scream "keyboards!" but then it doesn't need to.

thekeypusher is growing on me

@Eszett: I mostly agree.

edit: I like home row but it reminds me home run...

Home run isn't a bad thing to be reminded of. Although it didn't occur to me, so I don't think it's something to mull about.

I'm still on this, I want to push another project first, but this is in the pipeline :)

These are the half decent themes I could find for a magazine layout. Please note that they tend to show off a gazillion options while our layout would be much simpler (so you have to use your imagination a little)

I think that all of those are similar to a bbc type layout, which I feel could be improved upon. Simplicity always looks good - Apple really demonstrated that. The iOS 7 has that to a lesser extent, which is why I think Apple is losing it's way.
I think a boxed layout, with sticky tag/section navigation and full articles layed out would be very nice.

Perhaps having 'Read More' triggered on the centered article when a key is pressed. Having to move the mouse around to find the read more button, then clicking it, and being led to a new page, really kills flow for me. The easier, smother and quicker we can make that, the better.

Aka. full article text. Want to see the next one? Just hit space, space, space…

Daring Fireball is the good standard of minimalism*. Unchanged in design since Gruber started it in 2002, but as popular as any blog on the web:

http://daringfireball.net/

I admire what he does a great deal. I've never encountered a site that's easier to just read, on any device. What little is there, is there entirely on purpose. So good!

*Although his recent addition of a "cheap!" highlight for his app is a headscratcher. Cheap indeed. Be rid of it!

That is the kind of thing I'm thinking of. Very clean, very smooth, just the content. Design should get in the way of the content only very rarely in my opinion, and this is a brilliant example of content being the focus, without it looking like it was made in the 1800's. Unlike CatB. http://catb.org/esr/

I agree on simplicity but none of the layouts I linked seem overly complicated to me.

Have a look at this http://demo.yeahthemes.com/sparkle/right-sidebar/ ... very simple but still we have the freedom to add a "featured" article if we want to, or some categorization. Same goes with this http://strictthemes.com/truemag/post-formats/

Would you prefer a strictly blog-style with a list of articles and that's it?

Yes. It would look undeniably clean.

I have no idea why, but "clackology" just came to me. That might be something to do with the fact that I am deranged.

As for a theme, I would have thought it would be a monochrome+RGB one like Deskthority itself. I don't know whether it's deliberately not meant to look like Deskthority or …

(the wiki needs a lot more RGB-ifying — it still has far too much of the terribly bland MediaWiki look about it)

Where's the green? I've only noticed red/blue/mono.

DerpyDash_xAD

That's part of the reason I am for a very clean look. Deskthority is very well designed - clean, uncomplicated beauty. And if we are trying to make an equally good website, we should imitate it.

Check the D-sub connection for your monitor. Sounds like the green pin is broken.

HDMI buddy. I think I may be blind...

Update: I was temporarily blind, or just bone headed - I have seen the green.
