I got my weird RS "Cherry" switches yesterday (Tuesday). They're definitely bona fide Cherry; the name has been ground off:

I've never seen holes in the base before; this is odd considering that the switch is sealed!
Note that instead of the usual plate grip wedge, it's also got proper flexible clips. The little nubs on the top are missing too; I have no idea what they're for.
Now the good bit — a comparison of the internals against the Cherry switches I got from Electronic Surplus, with the "real" Cherry parts to the left, and the "fake" Cherry parts to the right:
It looks pretty legitimate to me.
Note that the base of both is SPST, but the slider of the "real" Cherry is DPST ready, while the "fake" Cherry switch has an SPST-only slider.
