Slimblade replacing ball - possible?

Anyone know if you can replace a Slimblade ball with something else? Isn't the ball 55mm? Could you use something like this if it was smooth enough?

For those interested, it looks like you can replace the slimblade ball with something else, but it's hit or miss (most likely miss) finding something the right size, a perfect sphere, and smooth enough. Ah well...
