Just curious. I don't really follow those forums.
Geekhack is kinda obsessed with it lately.

Yeah, but those are kinda the old pingy pings.
This one guy claims it can be heard down the hall. A ringing sound louder and longer lasting than your average ping.

Just curious. If the JAPANESE aren't going apeshit over it I doubt it exists.
Only country where a Topre is too loud. Rice paper walls.
This is the new silent Topre - damn that's quiet

Last time I went to Hong Kong and Japan, everyhere we went (hotels, streets, wherever) is noisy. One place in Hong Kong where I stayed, I could see and hear double-decker bus roof tops passed by when I was in bed. It is quite possible that you don't hear any low volume sound in that kind of environment.
But you already know that I think that ping issue is over blown over at GH by high-pitch hearing teenagers

Yes, I have. I have 3 filco reds, 2 filco browns, 1 filco blue. Mine make noises too. I can hear ping and vibration from the plate and noise from the springs when they bounce back up. I just have to put one of my ears an inch away from the key to hear it. Another friend of mine who I see every week has 6 other filcos, 3 reds and 3 browns. Same experience from him. That is a pretty large number of test samples. Across all of the ones we have, 2 are black bodies ninjas from amazon, one black body with red, the rest are white bodies. the non ninjas were purchased from China or Taiwan. All are tenkeyless models. All were purchased within the last 1.5 months.
