Must be a cool feeling to get scammed and receive the items you requested for the price you paid
What's wrong there? It's been months since I read for the last time GH.

Permaban?!? You have got to be kidding me! I guess a lot of (sorry to say it) noobs have reported you due to their incompetence to understand what a group buy and a used keyboard is, along with a lack of patience... But it's just a guess.

Permaban with no further explanation seems harsh though.

I am a firmly in the camp that any disciplinary action at a forum should always be publicly announced. Preferably, the evidence leading to that action should also be available for everyone to see. Imav (who runs Geekhack) seems to thinks otherwise.
Also, an action as harsh as a permaban should not be at the discretion of just one mod, but after a discussion.

Thanks. I've now read the thread.damorgue wrote:Probably around here
Apparently, Tinnie handled the group order pretty badly ... and then got offensive when people complained.
There were some keyboards that had been damaged in shipping to a proxy because of nonexistent padding in the shipping boxes - which is negligence that I find unforgivable. The condition of the keyboards was not made clear from the start - some keyboards were in worse shape than others from the start, and I think that they should have been priced lower.
Lots of information is missing from the thread. For instance, it was locked a month ago, and there is no public record of what happened between Tinnie and the group order participants in that time.
Is it scamming? That really depends on Tinnies intent, and as we can't see into his brain, that we can never truly know.

Locking threads is just as braindead sometimes as knee-jerk permabans. Did a lack of communication ever fix anything?
I've proxied Kishsavers for Tinnie, so got to see his handiwork for how to keep six keyboards each weighing 3 kilos off each other. He did a fine job: thick bubble wrap sheaths around each individual keyboard, plus a bunch of newspaper to fill the entire box. I just reused his packaging when proxying the keyboards on, and the guys even thanked me for my efforts!

I'm sorry I have to revise my previous statement. Apparently, some people were unhappy about the Kishsavers they received, but I did not see anyone being very vocal about it in the thread. Tinnie did apparently reimburse some participants for something.
The real drama happened when Tinnie talked about making a new run, but of SSKs - and mods told him to run the new run better than the previous. I suspect that there might also be PMs and deleted posts that we can't see that further fueled the fire.
I can see it being justified to lock a thread to stop drama about a run that had not been started. But really, a new run and of different keyboards should really be in a new thread - so that that thread would have been locked and not the original one. I suppose that the mods did not want to split the thread either, just to lock one of them directly.

That's true. I have bought two keyboards from Tinnie, an SSK and Kishsaver, several months apart, yet both of them were from the same DT thread! It's a confusing way of going about business.
New keyboard: new thread please Tinnie!

so much for caveat emptor. although if you visit GH as well as DT you know how critical i am of the admins' marketplace rules and how terribly they are enforced.Findecanor wrote: The real drama happened when Tinnie talked about making a new run, but of SSKs - and mods told him to run the new run better than the previous.

I think it was the little caprice in the sig. GH tends to put the p*ssy on a pedestal.

Just got a proxy ban at GH. Was watching some BBC with Tunnelbear this morning, then all of a sudden, I get the ban.ray4jc wrote:tinnie wrote:Til: gh bans people randomly. Ban is lifted.
If you use a proxy it could be that. I was told there is an auto ban with proxy access.
I would like to get unbanned, but I can't figure out how to contact anybody on the site.

Not everything is related to porn. ATM for example can also mean "Automated teller machine".
