I ordered the Monoprice MX Blue keyboard because I need switches for my keyboard project and the Monoprice board is cheap and has 104 MX Blue switches to harvest. Nevertheless, I will now give a brief review of the board itself.
There is a reason this board is cheap. I can easily flex the board by grasping on each side and twisting, and if you press hard on a keystroke the board will flex. The cord is non-removable, and the caps are super thin and pad printed. The finish on the case is that modern glossy kind that attracts fingerprints like nothing else. Of course, it is a bare bones product (what else can one expect from Monoprice?) and I have a hard time criticizing it considering its price. I think anyone who is cost constrained and considering a $20 rubber dome keyboard should consider this one instead, for about $55, it is a good entry into mechanical typing and the benefits are compelling. I have to use a rubber dome board at work, and I can report that I am at least 50% faster and much more accurate on this board. More on the plus side: I was a little concerned that the function row would be rubber dome, but I can report that all keys have Cherry switches, so that's 104 switches for $55. The feet are also rubberized, which I was not expecting on a board this cheap, which is nice. I would easily recommend this board to anyone who can't afford to splurge on one of the many nice $100 plus keyboards, as long as you can live with the shortcomings, I'd have to say that this board is a pretty good deal for the price.
