Re: Best Case/PCB for Alps Switches

If I wanted to use an alps64 pcb what cases are compatible with it? Do i need a plate because I don't have aek keycaps and that layout is the only one hasu sells a plate for right? Does anyone sell plates for standard ansi layout?

I built an Alps 64 +/- four years ago. It's a great little board ...

A split ortho Alps build will be my next project. What did you end up doing about keycaps? I can't decide whether to go with Matias blanks, vomit, or a combination of the two.

Re: Best Case/PCB for Alps Switches

There is also the ortholinear approach. Apart from the usual one-piece suspects (Planck and Preonic), there are also a couple of split options: Iris and Kyria.

Don't take this the wrong way, 'cause I definitely appreciate the feedback, but I've used this same bottle of alcohol on several PCBs now. As a matter of fact, I just finished a Clueboard last week and I used this same bottle of alcohol and a stiff brush to scrub the rosin off of its PCB. I've never ...

I just ran into this same problem, myself. I picked up a new (to me, obviously) Model M and verified that it worked on a PC with a PS/2 port. I then did some light cleaning under and between the caps with Q tips and some isopropyl. I had a quick look inside the case and since it was already pretty ...

This GB closed recently, perhaps someone has a spare AT101W plate?
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=75491.0;topicseen

You may look for other, similar Alps GBs.

Some people have used a plate from a full sized Dell AT101W and cut it down to fit their TKL/60% project.

The other option is to ...

Once you have the physical hardware (switches, wire and diodes) matrix established and built, you have to define that matrix in the firmware. The controller can't send the correct scan codes to the operating system, until you define which switches are connected to which controller pins. That is what ...

I'm not sure if I had a problem with Linux not recognizing the scan codes the past couple of nights, or if the on-line tool I was using was causing the issue, so I'll have to look a bit deeper into the issue.

I'm on a Windoze box tonight and the good news is that JigOn recognizes all of my ...

This is bizarre!

I've been working on my Leeku MX1800 L3 over the past few nights and last night I found that my Print Screen key was not registering. I dug my DVOM out and both the switch and the diode tests OK. I replaced them both, just for grins and still no Print Screen.

It still has the ...

It will be a Cherry MX+ALPS keyboard, drag-n-drop firmware update, trackpoint support, split spacebar support, available in 60% and 65% layouts which also happens to have LEDs... if you want them.

MX+Alps, 3U spacebars, trackpoint support ... it sounds like you have a solution to the Alps keycap ...

Naive question: Will Matias switches work with this plan? With Matias, could you have the LED inside the switch?

Matias switches are a clone of the Alps simplified switches and dimensionally, they are virtually identical.

The LED would be mounted to the PCB, next to the switch. Since the switch ...
