A result absolutely nobody could have seen coming. Here's hoping the site falls under community control again.

[WTS] MOVING OUT SALE
Hi all,
As I'm moving out of my current house and moving into a college dormitory in the coming days, I figured I'd sell off some of my outstanding and unfinished projects to free up space in my storage unit. Most of these boards are in an UNFINISHED state and are priced accordingly. Cash is ...

WTB/WTTF IBM Model F 104 or F107
US-PA
I have many boards/computers to trade, with many very high end vintage boards in my collection. I would prefer a direct trade of several boards in exchange for either of the two I'm looking for, but I can supplant with cash as needed.

WTS/T Teletype Model 80 keyboards, multiple available
Last March I acquired fourteen Model 80 Teletype keyboards. They were being stored in a shed, alongside plenty of other tech trash, outside of a long lines facility in upstate New York. Just my luck, squirrels had built a nest inside of the boxes, filling many of the keyboards with droppings and ...

[WTB] Microswitch KB or RW switches
Hi all,
Looking for a couple replacement modules for a Microswitch reed module I have and am planning to convert. A few of the reeds themselves have leaked or broken from age and no longer register keypresses unfortunately. DM me any details or offers, looking for any I can get my hands on!

Re: The mystery of DT's new owner - SOLVED
It's worse, I gave DT to the community but no one cared to run it.
I have personally heard of multiple offers from community members to buy the site from you. Unless there is some kind of miracle clause specified in the contract where you got a new kidney for selling the site, your motivations ...

For me, while those are great, the best looks are the SSKs. Pity there wasn’t a white on black SSK, that would be the big little boss.

Re: IBM Model M Lifetime Discrepancy?
Microswitch's hall effect switches have rated lifetimes somewhere in the tens of billions, however due to their contactless nature I've seen suggestions that the true lifetime could be exponentially higher than this simply due to how long it would have taken to actuate a switch that many times ...
Re: IBM Model M Lifetime Discrepancy?
Switch testing is almost always capped only at how long the manufacturer is willing to test the switch itself. Given that Model Ms are sometimes still used in working environments, even today, it can be assumed that the switch reliability is much higher than IBM bothered to measure.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
This is the most excited that I've been about a keyboard in a long time. Picked this up locally for a cool $110. The seller said their father had bought it at auction and that it had been in use at NASA during the Apollo program. It feels absolutely amazing, and looks incredible. Expect a project ...

I have never really been a fan of Ellipse's projects. His car salesman attitude that I've seen in communication with him has really put me off delving more into his boards. I listed my F77 for sale less than a week after getting it just because I was so disappointed with the keyfeel. Hell, my rusted ...

Re: Filthy Nasty Keyboards Thread!
Some years ago I bought a lot of Model Ms that had been stored in a garage outbuilding for decades. This is the only picture that I have of the restoration process. The "crust" was a uniform 2mm deep across the entire board. You could feel it if you were typing in certain areas of the board, it ...

FWIW, the programming chip doesn't die, it just isn't compatible with modern versions of Windows. I wager it'd work with anything pre-Vista, but that's just me spitballing.

There's an MX black version (although this might be a clone), a peerless version, and I believe there's even been a 4th gen FLS version documented.

Re: Teardown - new Ellipse beamspring switches!
Ellipse himself admitted that these switches have reliability issues, specifically with the flyplate detaching from the beam spring. And when Ellipse admits something is wrong, you can bet that the actual problem is far more prolific. I can't recall if he was using the exotic alloys IBM used or not ...
