Since I'm one of those who has transformed bad typing habits into proper typing form and increased both my typing speed and accuracy in the process (from ~60wpm to ~90wpm, +95% accuracy), I can share what I gained from my experience.

Very nice! Model F AT, one of the best keyboard out there, congratulations! If you happen to have an ultrasonic cleaner lying around, you can also use it to clean the keycaps. They usually works wonders.

I found a place on 3dhubs with pretty good printers so I was able to test the current design a bit more. I printed this prototype with EnvisionTec RC31 with 32nm layers, and result is not bad at all. The previous issues that matt3o found were fixed. I can mount keycaps properly ...

Very cool- I have a TKL from the first batch (linear, acrylic), and love it but am hoping for a v3 tactile some time. Could you post a photo of the foam cushion arrangement? I've been debating trying something for a little bottom damping...
Here's the foam I was talking about.

It's a piece of cylindrical foam, same diameter as the magnet, about 1mm thick. It goes right over the magnet. The magnet is recessed further in a bit to make room for the foam. The foam is stuck to the magnet with a double sided tape. I'll post a picture when I get back to the keyboard again ...

What you found looks like ABS, but they are actually pretty good. It's double-shot so, legends will never rub-off, prices, colors, thickness, are all great, and high profile to boot!

Please take your time, you are helping me out even when you have plenty of projects of your own. I won't be complaining whatsoever

Man, when will Plum realized that if they made a version with standard sized spacebar, their keyboard will appeal to many more enthusiasts.

This switch prints very easily.
The slider is really too tight inside the box, I had to use a ton of lubricant and still doesn't move freely. The stem cross is too bold too and doesn't quite fit the keycap. I also feel that the circle ridge around the stem is a bit too tight.

Oh, I see. I just checked and the size seemed to be correct, but I think you might be getting the unit reversed. 14mm is around 0.55 inches, may be that's the why you're seeing it as 0.6mm?

hey @mustcode, what's the intended width of that switch? the stl has it at about 0.6mm which I suspect is not accurate
Oh, really? The converter I used must have messed up the unit. The switch housing is supposed to be 14mm x 14mm x 14mm. I'll double check the stl and fixed it as soon as I get ...

The switch seems to be all about stability. It's hard to say but it looks so fit that it might need lubrication. Also it might transfer a lot of reverb onto the PCB ending up in not the most pleasant sound/feeling. Lastly, I don't think the reed switch is a good idea if only from a costs standpoint ...

Now that you mentioned it... Gem can sound pretty cool once we associate color to it... like Red Gem or Ruby 8-)


You could use tinted transparent plastic for the switch casing, and color code them accordingly:

In terms of the contact mechanism, there is nothing smoother or more reliable and long-lasting than Hall Effect. Just something to consider.

I wonder if he can put in the magnets to make it a hall effect one so we can get a more versatile switch for different feels (tactile, clicky, linear)

Full keyboard kit definitely makes a lot more sense than a 60% keysets with blank kits. Can't wait to see the case design, I suggest go retro all the way, would love to see this color combo in the glossy powder-coat finish like the Norbauer's cases.
