If you offer full kits in a group buy, count me in. Being outside ConUS makes sourcing stand alone components unfeasible, cost-wise.

Maybe we could geoup buy components? Also outside the states but designer is in Europe and I am definitely interested in more of these, but only trust myself for ...

Just wanted to thank you again! Mine arrived yesterday, was just able to open them before I left for work!!
Can't wait to start fiddling around with the placement options now, it is so much smaller than I imagined, you really are amazing! Will send you some goodies in return next week.

If you have any available I could use, I would be extremely grateful. Teensy that I ordered from a reputable vendor sent me a fake brick and is not honoring my return claim. So bummed that I didn't get to finish this build on my only day off!
Let me know what to do if you still have!

Reddit advice threads are seeping in. Fuck that keyboard in its stupid ass. It is not typewriter style nor worth the change spent. Buy a cash register.. Buy a typewriter. But dont buy that piece of shit unless you steampunk rave.

Long week.

This was the last safe haven for keyboards...

Cherry stabs... they are available all over the place and I thing that there are several ALPS boards that already have the stabilized keycaps compatible with cherry stabs.

As far as my searches have gone. Only the national is of use unless collecting. That msx is going to be sky high (likely), and canons (msx or otherwise) here in japan are somewhat unreliable (just my experience day to day here, though I haven't seen that particular board yet.) I have been messing with my extra blue switches recently. I figured out a mod to adjust the noise and basically retain the click. Requires a lot of time (for a whole boards worth of switches), but only an hobby knife to achieve.

Very good idea! I like it except for the part of having to kill SKCC switches for it. On the other hand someone may be in a situation where threre is no other way to use really nice SKCC keycaps. I wonder when we will be seeing the first mod...

Definitely agree. Just realized my "get to work" may ...

I saw it posted previously, but, I can attest to FLIP being somewhat, hmmmmm, ineffective to put it nicely.
I would recommend ZADIG which has been mentioned. Following that, a choice of the tkg bash, or the chrome tkg plugin should work, granted you take the (short amount of) time to set up your ...

Very interesting! It seems to work really well.

Although I bet someone could make an adapter based on the cut up SKCC stem, rather than having to ruin a whole bunch of switches :?

Fear not! I think I mentioned it in the imgur comments, but these were extra stock that has been accumulated from ...

I had a weird dream last night and woke up to try it before I forgot. The following is what I did.

I have had boards come in with the simplified and complicated versions both failing. Simplified seems to be more prone (fukka). I usually just switch it with a modifier and then replace the modifier with a skcm (to fit the feel of the board). Sometimes I get carried away and replace the whole board ...

Chyros's Alps bloke might know more about this. RAFI aren't very talkative and SMK don't even remember making keyboard switches. I know they did use a machined soldering process, so it'll have been pre-applied solder on the switch points and then oven-bake them. It makes perfect sense that it's to ...

...

Sadly this single other example doesn't offer any useful information: the useful data is in Alps-made calculator keypads from the 70s.

Note that both have "CH" PCB codes, which was also used and then corrected in 2ZQ's keyboard. "C" may stand for "Calculator", being replaced by "K ...

Hey there!
Akihabara is kind of a bust, as they have nothing that isn't offered by all the big stores. There is an exceptional little hidden stall there where I pick up spacers and standoffs, and once in a while a vintage iron.
I would recommend going to Hard-Off (electronics branch of a "thrift ...

.... Was that tape and foam stuck to the back of the keyboard PCB? That "calcium residue" should come off but dried up marking tape is not easy, if that's what it is. It should be only cosmetic anyway.

Anyway, congrats. and I hope you enjoy your keyboard.

Hi there. Saw your post and thought I might be of help.
When I was in the states, I used a product called Naval Jelly. Generally slather it on, or soak the part, and let it sot for 20-30 mins. After which I would use a steel wool pad to remove jelly and rust, wrinse after. Found this product at most ...

The ICs are Texas Instrument for sure but ICs like that from TI can be found in tons of keyboards from all kinds of brands. TI is just a very popular supplier and has been for a VERY long time. That does not mean this keyboard was build for/by TI.
