Not exactly a solenoid, but in my F122, I used a relay as a clicker:
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/te-connectivity-potter-brumfield-relays/1432873-1/PB2034-ND/1236848

The relay seems to work pretty well. It's nowhere near the original one, but a relay instead of a solenoid might be ...

Correct. The IBM originals and Ellipse's reproductions of the same are both zinc, with the compact cases having aluminum

I think we all got somewhat lucky that keyboards are one of the few (if not the only) PC parts that managed to escape the dreaded tariff. And Ellipse's insistence on minimizing delays worked out perfectly, since taking extra time to add the trackpoint to the keyboards could have potentially caused ...

To be honest I think that Linus' "reviews" are more just hands-on first looks than actual reviews. They completely lack depth and often are really subjective rather than objective, but thats's just my 2¢. Great entertainment and nothing more.

His upcoming Model M vid was actually pretty good. He ...

I'm not a fan of LinusTechTips but it might make sense to send him a review unit for all the publicity. On the other hand I feel like his audience might not appreciate something as nice as a Model F because it's not "gamer" enough.

So, what you are saying is; I will be able to wire the keyboard into one of those force feedback chairs , so that it massages my nether regions as I type?

With the right component, anything is possible. If you can find a relay that can use a 9V, 300mA signal to drive the motors on that chair ...

Idk if anyone has asked this but could I put a solenoid in my F77? It uses an off the shelf xwhatsit so I just need the solenoid and the solenoid driver?

I was never able to find an original IBM solenoid, but instead I put a relay in my F122 together with the solenoid driver and it works like a ...

I'll be testing at least one FEXT PCB for now to make sure they work before sending them out. After testing, I'll PM everyone individually with a cost estimate with shipping, at which point you ...

It appears that HASL is only available on a board that is 0.6 or thicker, so it seems like that's what they had gone with for the first round of boards to save costs.

As per emdude's suggestion, i'll be going with easyEDA since the cost is approximately half that of PCBway (unless anyone has any ...

Ellipse wrote: The factory said that these springs' tolerances are as tight as those of their aerospace customers.
The most important part of a buckling spring keyboard is the spring (it's in the name). Tolerances need to be tight on this, so I'm glad at least one factory is able to do it.

[Interest Check] FSSK PCB

I'm really interested in doing the FSSK https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/f-ssk-t10744.html mod and am considering getting the PCBs made. Depending on interest, I may turn this into a limited-run group buy, but for now I just want to see how many people are interested because of minimum order ...
